SAGINAW VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY
College of Education
Saginaw MI
Introducing new technologies to the processes of teaching and learning is
the College of Education, the newest facility at Saginaw Valley State University
College of Education. All media, data, telecommunications, and acoustical components of the project deliver high
quality educational services to students on and off-campus, support the faculty users, and help establish a
competitive marketing advantage to prospective students and faculty. The project includes technology-enhanced
classrooms, computer, science and skills development labs, collaborative work and conference spaces, a 250-seat
auditorium, cyber-café, large multipurpose conference space, and a content development center.
Classrooms are equipped with audio and video streaming technologies, new control system architectures,
and IP-addressable media devices. The project also includes a network to deliver high quality audio and video
content to faculty offices and instructor's location in each classroom, fiber-optic backbone from the existing
campus to the new College of Education building to carry data and video, and video-based distance learning capability.
The technology environment promotes shared resources and facilitates the development and deployment of digital media across the University network.
