The Regional Technology Center is designed to teach the unskilled student as
well as to retrain the most skilled industrial worker. With availability low
and demand high for employees with these new and ever changing skills, this
$35 million facility is designed to fill a significant need for the region and
beyond.
This project is media intensive both in terms of teaching media
and utilizing multimedia to teach. Interactive computer classrooms teach the
latest in computer aided design and manufacturing techniques together with
product simulation. Networked cameras allow students to see inside computer
controlled milling and fabricating machines. A central multimedia server room
allows high-speed gigabit Ethernet sharing of files, drawings and moving images.
Every group learning space is equipped with smart multimedia
technology, integrating the campus and the building’s network with individual
workstations and classroom presentation technology forming a seamless web
for information exchange.
