DAVID BARNETT CTS-D
SENIOR CONSULTANT
With over 14 years of experience in systems engineering, design and project management, David has a successful track record of working closely with clients and design teams to deliver innovative technology solutions that meet current and future needs. Experienced in corporate, higher education, performing and cultural arts, and healthcare markets, he has worked with clients on numerous projects throughout the project timeline to integrate custom AV systems into finished spaces.
Prior to joining The Sextant Group, David was lead designer for a prominent integrated architecture/engineering firm focusing on the performing and cultural arts, museums, government projects, and healthcare, as well as over a decade of experience working on high-profile projects at two of New York City's premier system integrators. His extensive experience includes advanced applications such as Enterprise-level integration, remote monitoring, management and control, analog to digital migration, and video streaming, storage, and digital signage.
Personal project experience includes learning, communication and collaboration systems and spaces for Columbia University, New York University, York College in New York, the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York Presbyterian, Yeshiva University, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, plus a long list of corporate clients in the publishing, advertising, financial, legal, and pharmaceutical markets.
Barnett holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University – School of Engineering and Applied Science. Professional credentials include Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D) from Infocomm International, plus over a dozen other industry certifications. Active in a variety of activities for InfoComm International including being selected for the Audiovisual System Energy Management Performance Standard Task Group charged with creating the first Green AV standard, as well as a member of the CTS-D Scheme and Technical Committees that developed the first ANSI approved CTS-D exam, and a contributor to the "AV Math: Reference and Worksheets for Applied Mathematics in the Audiovisual Industry" publication.
In his free time, David enjoys scuba diving, cooking and virtual reality.
