THE SEXTANT GROUP SWEEPS DESIGN AWARDS AT INFOCOMM
Honored with Grand Prize by Archi-Tech,
Best Healthcare Award from ProAV Magazine
JUNE 22, 2010 LAS VEGAS NV – The Sextant Group won big at InfoComm 2010.
Archi-Tech Magazine bestowed the technology consulting firm its Grand Prize for Best Project Over $1 Million, and ProAV Magazine presented the firm with the 2010 Spotlight Award for Best Health Care AV Project. The Sextant Group was the only firm to post a win in the two major industry awards presented during the June 2010 InfoComm International tradeshow in Las Vegas.
Both awards were for the Center for Connected Medicine. The Center showcases advances in high-level communication, computing, networking and healthcare technologies in flexible, one-of-a-kind "experience center", and is a joint venture by IBM, Alcatel-Lucent, Cerner, and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, with strategic partners Google, dbMotion, Johnson Controls, Polycom and Research in Motion (RIM, makers of the BlackBerry). The project team included The Design Alliance Architects, ThoughtForm, and SoundCom Systems.
"The Center for Connected Medicine demonstrates beautifully how an engaging AV experience is taken to the next level through careful coordination among consultants, integrators, architects, and clients," said ProAV Editor Brad Grimes. "Judges picked it out as a clear winner based on its interactivity, use of leading-edge technologies, and integration with the built environment." "It's an outstanding accomplishment and speaks highly about a firm's talents when their projects were chosen from so many outstanding audiovisual
projects," said Leah Garris, editor
of Archi-Tech Magazine.
In addition to the project being profiled in Archi-Tech's September and October e-newsletter, Principal Mark Gillis CTS-D and Senior Designer Ed Dukstein CTS-D will host a September 2 webinar discussing how the Center for Connected Medicine employs technology to address recent changes in the healthcare industry.
