ACHIEVING FOUR CAVSP-CERTIFIED OFFICES

FAIRFAX VA –The Sextant Group is now distinguished as the only technology consulting firm in the AV industry with four offices achieving InfoComm International’s Gold or Silver Certified AudioVisual Solutions Provider (CAVSP) level. The nationally recognized, independent consulting and design firm specializes in audiovisual technologies, information technologies and acoustics from offices in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Phoenix and Pittsburgh for projects throughout North America and beyond.

Industry trade organization InfoComm International awards individual certification to audiovisual professionals who have demonstrated knowledge and comprehension of the science and technology used in communications including audio, video, display and systems. The Sextant Group’s Atlanta, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh offices received Gold designation, recognizing that at least 75% of sales, customer service and technical staff have achieved and maintained individual InfoComm Certification. With over 50% achievement, the Phoenix office received Silver. All four of The Sextant Group offices met or exceeded certification criteria, an accomplishment unmatched by any other firm in the industry.

The certification has been a high-profile topic in industry news lately: InfoComm's Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) and Certified Technology Specialist - Installation (CTS-I) became credentials recognized worldwide this month when they were credentialed through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) by the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO). ANSI accredits standards developers, certification bodies and technical advisory groups to both the ISO and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). An industry first, ISO/IEC 17024 establishes a global benchmark for the certification of personnel.

The company-level CAVSP Certification program is the only such program available for the commercial audiovisual industry, and InfoComm is the only organization within the audiovisual industry to earn ANSI accreditation for its personnel certification program. In addition to confirming the high level of technical achievement at each location, CAVSP designation also requires firms agree to comply with 10 Standards of Excellence developed in collaboration with industry experts to emphasize the best practices of audiovisual businesses.
