MARCH 14, 2008 PHILADELPHIA PA – The Sextant Group, the nationally recognized, independent consulting and design firm specializing in audiovisual technologies, information technologies and acoustics, announces STEVEN C. GOLDFARB RCDD, CTS is joining the firm as Senior Consultant.
Goldfarb’s credentials include over 20 years experience designing and implementing IT, communications, audiovisual, and security systems for corporate, health care, pharmaceutical, government and academic facilities. He is widely acknowledged as an expert in the industry and is distinguished with the rare combination of technical certifications from both BICSI and InfoComm International.
By joining The Sextant Group, Steve adds significant breadth of experience and additional depth to the firm in its expanding IT consulting offerings. The benefit to architects and owners is dramatically improved access and better service from one of the nation’s top technology consulting firms, recognized by internationally for the integration of technology into the built environment.
Steve brings corporate experience ranging from a future combat systems simulation facility for Boeing Company, to advanced voice/video/data systems for Dow Jones, Merrill Lynch, QVC Network, and Cigna Insurance Company’s 57-story 2 Liberty Place office building in Philadelphia.
Health care projects include hospital systems design for Westerly Hospital in Rhode Island, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and the American College of Physicians in Philadelphia. Experience with pharmaceutical environments is extensive, including labs, data centers, security systems and communications systems & infrastructure for Merck & Co, Burroughs Wellcome, Lundbeck Research, and Therakos (a Johnson & Johnson company).
Government projects include full technology design for a new public safety building in New Castle County, Delaware, voice/data infrastructure for New York State’s Suffolk County Courthouse, plus a spectrum of projects spanning the country from the United States Naval Shipyard in San Diego to the US Army Corp of Engineers in Texas, Alabama and Virginia.
Experience in Higher Ed includes Rutgers University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and West Point Military Academy.
Goldfarb earned Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification from BICSI in 1990, followed by InfoComm International Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) credentials in 2002. He is an amateur radio operator, and currently holds an active Extra class radio operator license. Active as a lecturer and writer for IT and audiovisual industry trade organizations and publications, he has directed the LAN course for the Instrument Society of America for several years, and was a keynote speaker at the January 2000 BICSI conference in Orlando FL.
